What’s wrong with Christmas?

A week ago last weekend the weekend in Nizhny Tagil was held the celebration of “Christmas eve”. More than a hundred children of Sverdlovsk region took part in it. Children’s party is always nice. That can compare with a happy child smile? The answer is obvious. The question is different.

In many Russian regions local Church leadership when referring to the officials with requests for new material resources argue their right to a portion of the state budget that, in their opinion, a large part of the electorate are Orthodox. We have seen such documents, opinions of priests in them, sometimes reaching up to 80-90 percent. Such letters do not imply a test, because any test can be perceived by the clergy as the resumption of persecution, terror and the destruction of spiritual Skripov. But we can estimate the number of Orthodox, for example, by their participation in the festivities related to Christmas – one of the principal feasts “of the Orthodox world”.
