It was nice today to go outside. Go and meet you dressed children with bouquets of flowers and with undisguised joy on their faces. They are clearly waiting for something. September 1 – the day of great expectations… a Day of knowledge!
My daughter was the same way for some time. But the closer we got to the school, the more serious and ozabocheny was the expression on her face. It can be understood. She moved from elementary school to high. But the main object of her worries was the transition to another class. New homeroom teacher. Leaving behind old friends and meet the new team.
She asked her not to photograph. I sneak a still shot. And all on her face. What awaits her? How will the relations with the new guys? How to keep friendship with the old one? And of course, what will happen to her this new life and study in high school?
Me as a father tormented by the same questions. But in my mind all the time pop up the memory of yesterday’s transfer. I was visiting my dad. Which between hospitals. He was looking some discussion on the school subject. There are adult djadechki and tetechki talked about the new history textbooks. Father with something agreed, sometimes resented. Then he said: “They want to make each student historian! What nonsense”.
I haven’t seen the whole show. But from the moment I joined her watching, I was waiting for one – whether it is written about the subject of history is the most important thing from my point of view. Talked about the fact that children should master the facts. Then that they should be familiar with all interpretations of these facts. That the children themselves must learn to interpret and make judgments. That they need help to learn to search for data themselves. Etc.
In my opinion, the subject of history, a history book and history teacher, first and foremost, needs to instill in the children a respect and love for history in General, history of the Fatherland in particular and love to the Fatherland. To teach applies to all of this personal, engaged, and not to fill your head with bare facts, and many of their interpretations. Facts and interpretation are important, but they must be placed on the basis of love for history and homeland. With such a basis, the child will want to understand all the facts, etc. Because to him they are precious in his sight.
Probably, all this can be attributed to any subject. Don’t know how in high school, and in Junior high – always.
